Description:

Your Role at St John of God Subiaco Hospital
The Manager Engineering Services manages the functions of the Engineering Department to ensure that buildings, plant, equipment and grounds are properly maintained across the site(s) and manages the divisional environmental sustainability program.

The Position

  • Supervision of engineering staff and contract labour, including performance development plans.
  • Ensure regular meetings are held with caregivers within the department to outline expectations, ensure safe working practices and manage team performance.
  • Recruit and select staff for Maintenance Department, and contract labour as required, following Human Resources policy, EEO principles and business objectives.
  • Conduct all interactions and discussions with others in a professional and respectful manner in accordance with SJGHC Code of Conduct. Resolve any conflict in accordance with our values and the SJGHC Code of Conduct.
  • Responsible for ensuring that at St John of God Subiaco Hospital and other sites as required, the buildings, grounds, plant and equipment are adequately maintained.
  • Review and make recommendations for changes to technology, equipment, regulations and staffing requirements to improve efficiency in the engineering field.
  • Provide programs for major replacement or renovations for the annual budgets of such items as buildings, grounds, plant and equipment

You will have a Tertiary qualifications in management, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering fields with knowledge of buildings, building practices and Australian Standards, State and federal legislation and guidelines in relation to environmental management and building services, including air conditioning and familiarity with sterilising principles and methods of sterilising.
Due to nature of engineering problems in a modern hospital, you will also have knowledge of all trades is required, eg. Mechanical, plumbing, steam, air conditioning and refrigeration, carpentry, electrical and electronic controls in all aspects of hospital equipment and facilities.
To be successful, you will possess communication skills, including the ability to develop stakeholder partnerships and to establish and maintain reliable networks, as well as skills in leadership, inclusive of mediation and conflict resolution; resource management, inclusive of human, financial and physical resources; problem analysis and resolvement; an information recording and prepare quality written reports such as maintenance programs.
