WHAT WE DO:

The Manager, EPU is responsible for the development of an integral Electric Propulsion Unit (EPU) consisting of gearbox(es), electric motor(s), motor control unit(s) also known as inverter, and the associated subsystems. The Manager, EPU reports to the Head of Propulsion & Dynamic Systems and may support related special projects outside this scope to meet company objectives as required.
This position will be required to work on-site 5 days a week.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for management of the Electric Propulsion Unit (EPU) development
  • Lead and supervise a team of engineers specializing in electric motor design, motor control unit (inverter) design, control development, communication and other contributing electrical sub-systems
  • Delegate workload and support the EPU engineering team as required through technical and programmatic milestones
  • Manage different stages of the EPU development internally as well as externally with EPU subsystem/component suppliers to ensure on-time EPU delivery
  • Lead development of powertrain system complying with aircraft system requirements including but not limited to Power Quality, THD, crest factor, and grounding
  • Ensure efficient cross-collaboration between the EPU team and other teams on the program
  • Own verification and validation activities and collaborate with the Test & Evaluation Team to plan, support, and conduct tests as required
  • Support the Propulsion & Dynamic Systems Team in the integration of the EPU(s) into the air vehicle in the following areas: EPU to rotating controls and rotor hub integration, EPU to airframe integration, EPU to aircraft electric system, aircraft assembly sequence, and work with the Assembly and Integration Team to provide prototype parts to support system level testing and engineering builds
  • Execute administrative tasks as required to support prototype build and testing
  • Communicate directly with management and cross-functional leaders
  • Partner with PMO organization to execute build plan
  • Requires up to 25% of domestic and international travel
  • Other duties as assigned
