ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a postgraduate qualification.
  • CPA or CA certification (highly favourable).

Responsibilities:

ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Director, Financial Accounting, this exciting leadership position will join the Financial Accounting business unit within Shared Services SA to lead and develop a team responsible for delivering financial management compliance and bank reconciliation services to client agencies, while driving strategic process improvement initiatives. This crucial role will promote the highest standard of quality and compliance across the Financial Accounting business unit. You will oversee the development and implementation of robust business changes, leading initiatives to improve the quality and accuracy of financial reporting, while identifying and managing risks to uphold regulatory requirements and promote operational efficiency. This includes supporting the design and implementation of the SA Government’s new cloud based Salesforce Unclaimed Money software solution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and influence programs of work associated with developing and implementing continuous improvement initiatives, business continuity, and risk management strategies.
  • Provide effective leadership and direction to the team responsible for delivering high-quality shared financial accounting, bank reconciliation, and financial management compliance services to a diverse range of client agencies.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to monitor compliance with internal policies, service level agreements and external regulations.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on quality and compliance standards to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and present reports on quality and compliance metrics to senior management, client agencies and/or stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and processes within Financial Accounting and provide technical expertise and training in accordance with established government policies and legislative requirements.
  • Contribute to the promotion and implementation of Public Sector Principles and Practices, particularly Equal Opportunity and Work Health and Safety, by adhering to provisions of various Acts and associated legislation.
  • Stay current on regulatory changes and industry trends to proactively address potential compliance issues.
