Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Superintendent, Fleet Support Unit, you add value and are energized by key areas of oversight such as:
- Acting as the Fleet Support Unit (FSU) authority for triaging critical navigational failures in the fleet and ensuring prompt and effective actions are taken by fleet technicians and OEM resources
- Overseeing a team of tradespeople, providing guidance, supervision, and support in their daily activities. This includes coordinating work schedules, assigning tasks, and ensuring the trades have the necessary resources to perform their duties effectively
- Leading, guiding, coaching, and evaluating performance and address issues related to conduct and attendance. That includes hiring new team members for FSU
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of navigational and communication equipment. This includes developing maintenance schedules, conducting regular inspections, and coordinating with relevant stakeholders to address any equipment issues promptly
- Managing budgets, assessing equipment needs, and ensuring an adequate supply of tools, spare parts, and consumables for the trades to carry out their tasks efficiently
- Establishing and enforcing quality assurance standards to ensure navigational and communication equipment’s highest performance and reliability. This includes developing and implementing standard operating procedures, conducting quality checks, and addressing deficiencies or non-compliance issues
- Effectively communicating and collaborating with other units, departments, and external stakeholders are crucial. The manager will facilitate regular coordination meetings, liaise with fleet operations and technical teams, and act as a point of contact for any communication-related matters
