Manager: Innovation and Technology Transfer (fixed term contract)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Postgraduate Qualification NQF (8).
• 5 years working experience, of which at least 2 years should be relevant experience in project management, commercialisation and technology transfer.
• A Law or BCom degree will be an added advantage.

PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to actively support the Director in meeting the strategic objectives of the Research Office through the effective management and administration of innovation and technology transfer which includes Intellectual Property management and commercialisation for both academics and students at SPU.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Organisation and Planning of the Innovation and Technology Transfer (I&TT) Management Service.
• Innovation Management.
• Education and training.
• Relationship Building and Managing Partnerships.
• Manage SPUs IP Portfolio and develop commercialisation/licensing strategies.
• Stakeholder engagement and liaison (e.g. Private sector, government bodies, university staff and students, etc.
• Monitoring, Evaluation and Assessment 8. Development of an IP pipeline within SPU’s through active identification of research work that has the potential to lead to IP.
