KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

REQUISITE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree in a relevant engineering field, like elastomers and/or green chemistry.
  • 3 years of working experiences - advantageous is working with elastomers or footwear

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE & OVERALL RELEVANCE FOR THE ORGANISATION

Rubbers are used for outsoles in many of our products such as hiking and climbing shoes. The material has a big impact on our carbon footprint. So far there is no scaled –up alternative which is full-filling adidas high quality standards. In this role you will be the main contact point between the research partners, and adidas stakeholders and drive the transfer from research results to new product concepts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate materials and components created with new processes and production technologies within a funded research project
  • Support internal technical teams with analysis aimed at creating a detailed knowledge base of properties essential for functional performance
  • Align research and development efforts with product or component requirements, ensuring new materials meet functional performance targets
  • Perform failure analysis and root cause analysis on materials, components and processes leading to product failures
  • Use materials science expertise to ensure smooth integration of new materials from prototyping phases into full-scale production
  • Interaction and management of project from adidas point of view

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Educate and train colleagues by sharing knowledge on an on-going basis
  • Prepare concept and results-based reports and presentations, sharing them with the funding body of the research project
  • Stay connected to relevant current and upcoming research, technologies, methods, and industry trends. Build an effective information network
  • Identify and partner with industry-leading organizations to extend the capability of the team
  • Consider legal implications of innovative concepts, working with the legal team to protect product, technology, innovation, process, and design
