Responsibilities:

You will provide service oversight, programme development and line management of RTR employees. The position is a member of the National Migration Team and contributes to development and delivery of the Group’s strategic plans.

In this role you will:

  • Lead and manage RTR to deliver its functions and responsibilities effectively and efficiently; and to contribute to New Zealand Red Cross.
  • Drive continuous improvement through reviewing, developing and implementing more effective ways to achieve NZRC outcomes.
  • Contribute to strategic direction setting, financial sustainability and performance monitoring of the Migration Group against its strategy and operational goals.
  • Maintain close communication with directors, the Community Engagement Lead and principal or senior advisors with the Migration Group and other directorates with an aim to foster greater collaboration and cohesion across directorates.
  • Model an understanding and appreciation for Te Ao Māori and lead staff in a way that develops their understanding.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with regional and national funding providers and ensure delivery of contractual outcomes, negotiating, monitoring, reporting and risk management.
  • Develop and manage relationships with leaders of organisations, and senior health professionals, and specialist networks on refugee mental health.
  • Provide expert advice to health networks, programmes and specialists on best practice in the refugee mental health field.
  • Collaborate with training experts within NZRC to further develop and operationalize programmes, including rolling out training on torture and trauma rehabilitation for mental health professionals. Continue to look strategically for further income generating opportunities.
  • Manage and be accountable for RTR’s budget within defined parameters and ensure efficient and effective use of financial resources.
