Manager of Data Science
Full Time Perm
Shift: Hybrid – two days on location
Salary Range: $125,000 - $188,600 plus annual bonus
Location: Columbus, OH

The Data Science organization at NiSource is the recently established advanced analytics arm of the company. We are building a talented team that is leveraging best-in-class tools and techniques to solve our company’s highest value analytics use cases. This position will report up through the Enterprise Data & Analytics Organization and function as a technical manager in Data Science organization in order to:

Execute on Strategic Direction and Vision:

  • Define the team’s long-term goals and align their work with the overall business objectives.
  • Develop a clear roadmap for data science projects, considering both technical and business aspects.

Manage and Mentor:

  • Oversee the professional growth and performance of each team member.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to help data scientists excel in their roles.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other departments to identify data science opportunities.
  • Prioritize projects, allocate resources effectively, and ensure seamless communication across teams.

End-to-End Data Science Oversight:

  • Manage the entire data science process, from data collection and preprocessing to model development, evaluation, and deployment.
  • Ensure high-quality deliverables, adherence to best practices, and successful project outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • 7+ years of experience building data analytics, machine learning or AI tools
  • 5+ years of experience leading analytics projects or initiatives

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ year people leadership experience
