Description:

Manager of Human Resources (Health, Wellness, and Safety)
The Sunshine Coast School District is seeking a dedicated and experienced Manager of Human Resources specializing in Health, Wellness, and Safety. This role is integral to ensuring the physical and mental well-being of our employees, while maintaining efficient attendance and leave management processes. The ideal candidate will work in-office as part of the District Leadership team to have a strategic approach to implementing policies and programs that foster a safe and healthy work environment. The position’s salary range is between $96,055 and $120,068 and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Maintain health, wellness, and safety personnel records.
Develop and recommend improvements to HR procedures and practices.
Support staffing initiatives and participate in collective bargaining.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.
Qualifications and Experience
A minimum of three to five years’ experience with occupational health and safety is required, preferably in a broader public sector unionized environment. Experience with occupational health and safety in a school district would be a significant asset.
Experience in human resources with a focus on wellness, attendance support, sick leave and leave management.
Knowledge of, and experience with, relevant laws, regulations, and best practices related to occupational health and safety, wellness, attendance management, leave management and sick leave administration is required, preferably with some of that knowledge and experience being in a school district.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop effective solutions.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization and influence positive change is required, with experience in these areas in a school district being an asset.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field would be an asset.
Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or certified HR professional (e.g., CHRP) designation also would be an asset.
