Thriftys is hiring a Manager of Ladies Design! This is a 12-month contract position.
Position Overview
Partner with the VP of Ladies Merchandising to seasonally analyze and strategize key trends and concepts and be able to adapt those trends and concepts to all classifications to further evolve the Bluenotes brand.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Manage team in design, development and execution of all ladies’ private label commodities; provide and oversee market research, product apparel design and labeling/packaging
- Identify new and growing categories
- Identify and present key items, colour, and print directions to ensure Bluenotes is always a leader in junior fashion trends
- Research and create trend reports to provide creative direction to the buying and design teams
- Strong technical and design background in all aspects of apparel including denim
- Initiate the designs for each commodity while working with the buyer’s assortment plan/shopping list
- Direct the types of design and development required for each merchandise category including key silhouettes, trims, treatments, as well as development of print, pattern and graphic ideas from concept to production
- Partner with the Manger of QC on all garment fittings and ensure that the integrity of the design is maintained while ensuring proper fits; provide comments and artwork corrections to overseas vendors
- Team development and mentorship including performance evaluations, hiring and training of design team
- Perform other duties as required
What you need to be a successful Manager or Ladies Design with Thriftys Family of Brands:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion or Art (or equivalent experience and education).
- 5+ years related experience
- Knowledge of garment construction, patterning, textiles, sewing techniques and product development life cycle
- Ability to act as liaison between many departments; excellent communication and analytic skills.
- Must be detail oriented, computer literate and to handle multiple tasks at once.
