JOB SUMMARY

This position oversees the day-to-day management of Siloam Mission’s Supportive Housing. The Manager of Supportive Housing (Sheltering the Spirit) will work with the Director of Community Wellness on strategically planning the development, resourcing, and implementation of new supportive housing programs that align with Siloam’s Housing Strategy. The Manager of Supportive Housing will oversee the Housing Team at 4025 Roblin Blvd. and assist the Director of Community Wellness in continuing the expansion of existing supportive housing programs that respond to areas of high need identified in Siloam’s Housing Strategy. The Manager of Supportive Housing works with the Director of Community Wellness and the Executive team with comprehensive understanding and full appreciation of how safe, affordable housing, including the provision of culturally-appropriate and needed supports, contributes to quality of life for all tenants of Siloam’s Housing Programs.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working in property management is an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a leadership or management role is an asset;
  • Experience in training, coaching, and evaluation of staff is an asset;
  • Experience in setting and monitoring a budget is an asset;
  • Experience and demonstrated knowledge in mental health and /or addiction field is preferred;

  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to work from a trauma-informed perspective;
  • Knowledge of community resources for housing retention, health, mental health and substance use;
  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to work within recovery-oriented approach;
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Certification in or demonstrated knowledge of NVCI, ASIST, CPR/First Aid, Mental Health First Aid training (MHFA);
  • Experience in working with HIFIS4 an asset;

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that program goals are being met and in line with organization’s strategic plan;
  • Exemplify Siloam’s core values in all day to day activities;
  • Assist in the ongoing development and assessment of Siloam’s supportive housing programs and keep them in line with the organization’s strategic goals and addressing the changing needs of the community are being met;
  • Work with the Director of Community Wellness in the design and implementation of new supportive housing programs, and develop and nurture partnerships where appropriate;
  • Work with the Director of Community Wellness and the Executive Team to develop positive new partnerships with groups including but not limited to: Elders, Knowledge-Keepers, Indigenous organizations, community groups; non-profit service groups; housing organizations; health service organizations for the purpose of creating new and enhancing existing housing services throughout the housing mosaic;
  • Make recommendations to the Director of Community Wellness on new actions, goals and targets related to the development of new supportive housing services;
  • Develop and manage timeliness for various activities to ensure strategic plans and critical development processes are carried out in a timely manner;
  • Identify, prioritize, and measure key performance indicators and outcomes with the goal of better-supporting the people we serve and the people we need to serve
  • Assist in the hiring and evaluation of Housing Program staff;
  • Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to program staff and ensure staff obtain the tools necessary to execute daily tasks;
  • Ensure all staff are receiving the information provided by the organization’s Executive team;
  • Provide professional support, training, performance management to staff and assist in staff’s professional development;
  • Ensure sufficient policies and procedures are in place to provide a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for our community members and a similar work environment to our staff as well as to protect our physical (housing) assets;
  • Ensure vacancies of all rooms are filled in a timely manner to maintain maximum capacity;
  • Ensure the facility is maintained appropriately by performing regular and consistent checks of all areas of the building and equipment;
  • Ensure the safety and maintenance of the property while following all applicable regulations;
  • Oversee overall progress of supportive housing services in terms of budgets, timelines, and outcomes;
  • Maintain necessary accounting records for rent collection; copy of receipt given to resident;
  • Ensure the appropriate electronic and manual filing systems and program database systems for program delivery are designed, implemented, and available to assist in program delivery;
  • Develop and maintain professional collaborative relationships with department personnel, other departments within Siloam Mission, service providers, residents, and community resource agencies;
  • Advocate for residents of Siloam Mission Housing and assist supportive housing staff to implement a comprehensive and person-centered plan;
  • Monitor the progress of tenants and assist staff in ensuring plans are adjusted accordingly to meet the ongoing needs;
  • Mediate conflict between staff or staff/tenant as needed or upon request;
  • Manage and approve time off requests and staff scheduling to ensure adequate coverage of program needs;
  • Participate in professional development opportunities;
  • Attend and participate in Siloam Mission meetings and events as appropriate;
  • Welcome and host volunteers when applicable;
  • Support and develop appropriate Board-level reporting mechanisms and respective reports;
  • Provide directional input into the development of strategic communications; and
  • Other duties as required.
