The Manager, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion supports NAIT in achieving its goal of building a safe and inclusive working and learning environment where all people are welcomed, valued and treated equitably and with fairness. This position leads NAIT’s EDI strategy including identifying and leading initiatives related to the institution’s commitments to advance equity, cultivate inclusion, and build a diverse community. The manager works collaboratively with leaders across campus to remove systemic barriers and works to raise awareness and education around EDI initiatives.
The manager identifies and leads projects that support the strategic priorities of the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. This includes ensuring that the unit is meeting it’s objectives of:
Supporting community building for students and equity-deserving groups,
Developing staff and student capacity in EDI
Ensuring students are connected to appropriate services and resources on campus.

Knowledge and application of human rights legislation, and navigation of appropriate decision-making structures within the institution.
Ability to navigate complex situations
Excellent verbal and written communication
Ability to communicate complex concepts and ideas in a compelling way
Ability to advocate a position, and storytelling.
Knowledge of Principles of social justice, equity, inclusion, accessibility, diversity, decolonization, truth and reconciliation, intercultural competence, Intersectionality, cultural transition, anti-racism, Critical race theory, social identity theory, intercultural communication theory

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree - preferably in gender studies, social justice, sociology, political science, or other related field.
Master’s degree preferred.
Significant related professional experience
Experienced with relevant acts and regulations, including but not limited to: Employment Equity Act, Alberta Human Rights Act, Duty to Accommodate, Designated Learning Institution regulations, OHS legislation, Sexual Violence Prevention and Response, FOIP
Remuneration: $ 96,356.78 - $ 127,657.66 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities:

Leads implementation of NAIT’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion strategy including:
Identifies and leads projects to advance equity, cultivate inclusion and build a diverse community,
Develops change management and communication strategies.
Provides EDI lens on development and review of institutional policies and procedures
Provides subject matter expertise and internal consultation on matters related to EDI
Establishes strategic priorities, identify and operationalize tactics and projects to support NAIT’s EDI goals and objectives
Liaises with departments across campus to identify and remove barriers to access, participation, and advancement for equity-deserving groups.
Oversees Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion operations.
Manages strategic planning, effective communication, and teamwork for Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
Manages budget resources within the areas of supervision.
Develops grant/donor proposals, aligned to department and institutional strategic priorities.
