ABOUT US
The Faculty of Health Sciences is a large, diverse, and comprehensive unit, comprised of soon to be seven Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Communication Sciences and Disorders and Food and Nutritional Sciences), a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and four Research Centers. The Faculty has more than 4,000 undergraduate students and more than 900 graduate students (200 PhD students).
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Undergraduate degree in Business Management/Administration or related field
- Completion of or working towards Chartered Professional Accountant Designation and/or Certified Human Resources Professional Designation
- Master’s degree in Business, Public Administration, or related field is preferred
Experience:
- 5 years of administrative, human resources, and financial experience in a complex office environment
- Experience managing staff and projects
- Experience in operations management, financial and budgetary management as well as oversight and human resource management and planning
- Experience with strategic planning, change management, and project management
- Experience in a post-secondary educational setting is preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of financial budgeting and principles to develop financial models, forecasts and analysis; experience with Ministry reporting; knowledge and experience to recommend controls to manage operational and legal risks
- Knowledge of best practices and principles for human resource management; experience in collective agreement language and interpretation, Employment Standards Act, and other relevant legislation
- Influential interpersonal skills to build positive and strong relationships at all levels of the organization and with partner institutions and agencies
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy including solid negotiation, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes, and support work design and workflow

Responsibilities:
The Manager, Operations & Finance provides leadership, strategic direction, and managerial oversight for all financial and human resource operations in the Rehabilitation Sector Schools. Reporting dually to the Directors in the Rehabilitation Sector Schools and the Director, Operations & Finance in the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Manager works in close partnership with academic and administrative leaders, both internally and externally, to allocate resources and implement administrative processes that support the vision and goals for the Rehab Schools in the Faculty of Health Sciences. The Manager identifies and implements improvements in business processes and internal controls and ensures compliance with internal and external regulations as they relate to institutional partnerships, accrediting organizations and agencies, and Ministry funding agreements. The Manager has direct accountability for setting, meeting, and reporting budgets and expenditure as well as human resource responsibilities including faculty and staff recruitment, work design, performance management, and adherence to collective agreements. The Manager is a visible and accessible leader who participates actively in a broad array of School and Faculty Committees, Councils, and initiatives.
