Collins Aerospace is looking for an Operations Manager at their Cheshire, CT location.
The Operations Manager will be responsible for leading a variety of disciplines (directly and indirectly) that support some of our more high profiles lines that produce product that integrate into the AIM9X missile and Javelin missile platforms. This role will have a direct influence not only on the site’s performance but that of the entire RTX organization since these are all RTX programs. These two areas require critical problem solving skills and good communication in order to be successful. This role reports directly into the Site Operations Lead and will also have direct involvement in a number of site leadership activities and cadence reviews.
Position will work primarily onsite. This position may be eligible for relocation assistance.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan, direct, and monitor all production activities within an assigned area or unit to maximize the use of the organization’s resources and meet established production specifications and schedules; volume, cost, and wastage targets; and quality standards
  • Responsible for the smooth operations for planning, organizing and controlling of all production-related activities
  • Ensure operations adhere to operating procedures, quality and safety requirements from local and international quality standards
  • Review the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate solving problems in a timely manner and to identify opportunities for improvements
  • Monitor, report, develop and implement improvement programs such as on-time delivery, productivity, manufacturing cost/expenses, inventory, safety performance, 5S housekeeping, customer feedbacks and overtime expenses
  • Lead a team of Senior/Supervisors, Planners, Manufacturing Engineers, and Quality Engineers to maximize productivity through effective management, use innovative techniques & customer service strategies to achieve high standard of service delivery & customer satisfaction
  • Work with various departments to improve process, performance and management efficiency to achieve business goals
  • Formulate and lead Continuous Improvement projects from Identified opportunities from Safety, People, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SPQDC)
  • Manage employee morale and improve retention
  • Lead and prepare internal succession pipeline
