Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Manager of People & Culture is responsible for helping build and enhance our award-winning company culture, people programs, and operations. As the human resource expert within the organization, you are part of the senior leadership team and responsible for developing the People Strategy aligned to the overall strategic direction and managing all day-to-day operations related to the human resource function. The Manager is a trusted advisor and influencer within the organization. Specific areas of responsibility include recruitment and retention, performance management, employee engagement, policy design, training and development, succession planning, employee relations, total rewards, managing the relationship with legal counsel on employment matters and establishing best practices.

KEY TECHNICAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledgeable and experienced in full HR life cycle functions
  • Experienced in HR policy review and HR process development
  • Experience with full cycle people operations in a hybrid/remote environment
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing organizational priorities and needs
  • Experience with coaching managers in employee discipline and performance review process
  • Working knowledge of current legislation, including Employment Standards and Human Rights laws
  • Experienced with HRIS and ATS; BambooHR experience is an asset
  • Experienced with performance management systems. Lattice experience is an asset
  • Knowledgeable in learning & development programs and LMS; TalentLMS experience is an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Office, OneDrive, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Critical thinking and decision making; applying policies to situations
  • Collaborative, team player

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree or Diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field an asset
  • CHRP designation is an asset
  • 8+ years of experience as an HR generalist or HR specialist capacity
  • 3+ years of managerial and supervisory experience with responsibility for a department or specialized area and advising senior leaders

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with senior leadership to create plans and HR programs that support the SysGen Experience for all employees
  • Support leadership by identifying workplace issues through building sustainable solutions while maintaining confidence and advancing the organization’s culture
  • Initiate the process for and guide managers through workforce planning, performance management, and career development
  • Support managers through the internal recruitment process, including reviewing and developing accurate job descriptions
  • Actively partner with leaders to identify and address organizational and HR related issues
  • Provide support, guidance, coaching, education, and direction to all employees on HR related matters
  • Continually review and monitor the effectiveness of Human Resources programs, making recommendations and implementing improvements where identified
  • Create and enhance critical initiatives of the organization in the areas of performance management, learning and development and employee engagement
  • Create and maintain a process to ensure HR policies are circulated, communicated, and outdated policies revised
  • Manage the Talent Acquisition team and oversee, execute, and continuously improve our employee recruitment, onboarding and orientation program
  • Provide oversight for and drive SysGen’s leadership development program
  • Total Rewards: Continually assess the organization’s benefits and compensation philosophy and framework; implement annual performance management and compensation review processes
  • Conduct internal investigations and recommend when external investigations should take place; consult legal opinion when necessary
  • Work with managers on employee relations, coaching and discipline, hearing, and resolving employee grievances
  • Oversee compensation administration through employee pay actions and annual increases
  • Track and report on employee lifecycle data such as training, performance management, and time off
  • Lead the employee survey process, reviewing results with management, recommending action items, and helping to implement action items throughout the organization
  • Oversee benefits plan administration and annual assessment review
  • Ensure legal compliance and advise management on applicable Human Rights and Labour Standards legislation
