We are looking for an upbeat customer focused Manager of Product Development. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for advancing our suite of personal insurance (PI) products, ensuring they meet customers’ and distribution partners’ evolving needs within a rapidly changing PI landscape. Helping us focus on understanding and assessing the competitiveness of Aviva Canada’s PI products, finding opportunities for improvement, and working collaboratively across the organization to bring enhanced products to market.

What you’ll do

• Own the planning and development of product reviews and make recommendations to improve or retire products where applicable
• Independently lead the end-to-end development and implementation of actions resulting from the recommendations of the post-launch product reviews and/or ad-hoc product initiatives
• Assess competitive information by proactively keeping on top of the latest customer, industry and competitive developments
• Incorporate customer insights to translate trends into tangible PI product opportunities
• Lead various product development initiatives, collaborating with all applicable partners across the organization while adhering to applicable governance standards.
• Support senior product managers in driving initiatives, performing analyses, and driving actions
• Successful delivery of product initiatives – new products, simplifications to existing products, the retirement of old products
• Post-launch Product Reviews – as scheduled throughout the year
• Product and Competitor Reviews – identifying trends and opportunities (with recommendations)

What you’ll bring

• Undergraduate degree in business or other related field, or equivalent experience
• At least 5 years of experience with personal P&C insurance
• Candidates with prior experience in product development and/or product management preferred
• Detailed knowledge of personal insurance products and the regulatory environment is an asset
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence partners
• Disciplined and organized – strong project management skills
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess both quantitative and qualitative value of opportunities
• Ability to summarize key insights and recommendations in senior management communications
• Ability to independently research and engage external parties to assess product opportunities
