POSITION SUMMARY
The Manager, Simulation and Experiential Learning is responsible for the overall direction and leadership of operational, financial, and staff activities to support excellence in simulation-based learning in the School of Health Sciences. This position reports to the Dean, School of Health Sciences and in collaboration with the simulation center staff and faculty is responsible for supporting ongoing use of simulation-based learning pedagogies to enhance student learning experiences. The Manager will be responsible for coordinating the Centre’s operations in order to maximize efficiencies in the utilization of space, staff and supplies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree in Nursing or health related field.
- Five (5) years of related experience including two (2) years supervising employees. Experience managing a health related simulation lab preferred.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Proven knowledge of health sciences simulation.
- Ability to demonstrate leadership in an academic environment with a diverse student staff population.
- Experience in employee recruitment, selection and performance management in a unionized environment.
- Excellent communication, team building, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team in a very fast-paced, complex and changing work environment.
- General knowledge of systems used in planning, organizing and establishing workflow schedules.
- Knowledge of quality improvement, leadership and decision-making processes.
- Skill in the use of computer software applications, such as MS Office with proven ability to produce spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations.
- Sound judgment and professionalism, and demonstrated ability to act tactfully, diplomatically, and with discretion in all contexts, internally and externally.
- Proven management experience including budget planning and management, and employee supervision, and process control.
