The SIT Teaching and Learning Academy (STLA) is seeking a Project Manager for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Applied Learning projects. This role is pivotal in guiding academic teams as they develop and implement AI-driven solutions to enhance applied learning experiences that may aim at industry-relevant applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong project management expertise, understanding of current AI and related technologies, and a passion for educational innovation.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualification or significant work experience in a technology related field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and teams in collaborative environments, especially involving academia, industry, vendors, and students.
  • Preferred: More than 3 years of working experience in project management that involves developing or deploying education technology.
  • Preferred: Good understanding of current AI capabilities and techniques, including natural language processing (NLP), machine learning (ML), foundational or large language models (LLM), computer vision (CV), frameworks for building and evaluating generative AI applications (e.g. LangChain, LangSmith), and their common usage (such as retrieval augmented generation).
  • Able to stay up-to-date on related emerging technologies.
  • Familiarity with common AI applications in education like intelligent tutoring, personalized learning, automated grading/feedback, content generation, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability in developing solutions to technical problems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of programming skills in languages such as Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar, as well as cloud computing and AI/ML deployment (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) would be advantageous.
  • Strong communication abilities, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical audiences (e.g. explain technical AI concepts to non-technical users).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work individually or in a team, and with other divisions, including with external parties.
  • This is a contract role ending in March 2026.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end process of projects for the academic project teams, from project scoping and planning through vendor selection, development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Work closely with academic staff (and any industry partner) to understand their project concepts and learning objectives to determine appropriate AI solutions and technologies.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify suitable vendors and solutions that meet project needs.
  • Support the vendor evaluation and selection process.
  • Serve as the project manager and key point of contact for each team’s AI implementation.
  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure the project stay on track and can meet the milestones adhering to the stipulated timeline.
  • Support testing and deployment of the solutions.
  • Provide training and support to faculty adopting the new AI teaching tools and technologies.
  • Support collection of data and feedback to measure the learning impact of the AI implementations.
  • Present regular status updates to STLA leadership on project progress.
