Description:

Equinox Gold is a growth-focused Canadian mining company with seven operating gold mines, commissioning underway at a new project, and a clear path to achieve more than one million ounces of annual gold production from a pipeline of development and expansion projects.

EDUCATION:

Degree in a subject area related to corporate social responsibility, sustainability, human rights and/or community development
Masters’ degree in relevant subject area is desired

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the extractives industries, site-based field experience is essential
Work experience in North and Latin America is desired
Extensive experience with international standards (UN Principles, IFC, UN Sustainable Development Goals, GRI Standards, MAC-TSM, among others)
First-hand experience with an industrial employer in areas such as community development and investment, indigenous communities’ engagement, social performance, conflict management, engagement and partnerships
Experience and understanding of strategies to identify, address and mitigate social and human rights risks/impacts
Sound analytical, report and writing skills
English and Spanish or Portuguese language skills
The salary range for this position is from $110,000 to $130,000.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Vice President, External Affairs and Social Responsibility, this position will be responsible for:
Contributing to the implementation of management systems based on the company’s social responsibility and human rights policy
Contributing to the development, improvement and compliance assurance of the company’s social management and human rights standards
Contributing to the development and implementation of the company’s inclusion and diversity strategy
Provide support to mine sites to make sure they have the necessary knowledge, tools and resources to ensure effective implementation of social responsibility related standards, regulatory commitments and compliance, and achieving company objectives. Support the development and implementation of policies and standards at site level, through training, coaching and mentoring
Working in a collaborative manner with other departments as required to achieve corporate goals
Producing the company’s annual sustainability report
Demonstrating on-site presence and commitment to the implementation of the company’s strategy, policies, systems, and processes
Promote internal communication with and among site teams, documenting interactions and lessons learned to share across sites
Identify training needs and propose training contents for sites
Ensure timely and accurate collection and reporting of any required information for internal and external purposes, including the management information circular, quarterly management discussion and analysis, UN Global Compact’s communication on progress among others
Review the company’s ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) ratings, propose disclosure improvements, and send feedback to rating agencies
