Description:
The Strategic Policy and Research team (SPR) is part of the Strategic Policy and Insights (SPI) division within the Strategy, Insights, and Advisory Group. SPI leads the development and analysis of future-focused, cross-departmental research to support whole-of agency direction setting and policy formulation. SPR uses stakeholder relationships to drive strategic policy and research outcomes and works with other teams to develop evidence and insights to support the department’s policy and program initiatives. This role is responsible for leading staff and undertaking high quality analyses and regular research to formulate evidence-based advice on a range of policy issues relevant to the department. This role is also responsible for tasks including fostering strong working relationships across governments and the private sector and working with other teams to develop insights to support the department’s policy and program initiatives; leading a high performing team, including staff mentorship and development; providing strategic insights to inform the development of policies and programs developed by the department; leading the preparation of high-quality briefings, policy papers, reports, Cabinet submissions and presentations; and maintaining and leveraging working relationships within the department, with other agencies and the private sector to inform policy issues relevant to the department. SPR is a team that is making a difference by working across the organization and governments to advance the department’s priorities.
