DETAILS
- Department: Sterile Processing
- Schedule: Monday to Friday 2pm - 10:30pm. Rotating hours as necessary.
- Hospital: Seton Main, 38th St
- Location: Austin, TX
REQUIREMENTS
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- One or more of the following required:
- Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
- Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
Education:
- High School diploma equivalency with 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate’s degree/Technical degree with 2 years of experience OR 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
- 3 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
Manage daily operations of the central sterile supply unit sterile processing department in support of surgical procedures.
- Develop specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
- Collect and report on data concerning instrument distribution, loss and replacement. Work collaboratively to identify and implement strategies related to product standardization, supply reduction, and cost containment.
- Manage staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction and conflict management. May perform and oversee processes such as scheduling, recruitment, payroll and student engagement.
- Monitor departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, vendor relations, and quality and process compliance of all sterilization activities throughout the health system according to industry regulations.
- Monitor quality and process compliance of all sterilization activities. Manage quality assurance programs by adjusting work product goals in conjunction with regular audits trends and metrics.
- Establish and maintain sterilization, safety and security standards, policies and procedures for Sterile Processing Department to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
- May travel as needed.
