DETAILS
- Department: Sterile Processing
- Schedule: Primarily days M-F; dependent on the needs of the department. 24/7 responsibility of the department.

REQUIREMENTS
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- One or more of the following required:
- Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Boardfor Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date orjob transfer date.
- Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare SterileProcessing Association obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
- Associates hired or transferred into the role prior to 12/26/21 can be credentialed as a CentralService Tech or Surgical Tech. Associates hired or transferred into the role after 12/26/21 must becredentialed as a Central Service Tech through Certification Board for Sterile Processing andDistribution (CBSPD) or International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management(IAHCSMM).
Education:
- High School diploma equivalency with 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate’s degree/Technical degree with 2 years of experience OR 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
- 3 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
Manage the daily operations of the central sterile supply unit.
- Develop specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
- Collect and report on data concerning instrument distribution, loss and replacement. Work collaboratively to identify and implement strategies related to product standardization, supply reduction, and cost containment.
- Manage staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction and conflict management. May perform and oversee processes such as scheduling, recruitment, payroll and student engagement.
- Monitor departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, vendor relations, and quality and process compliance of all sterilization activities throughout the health system.
- Monitor quality and process compliance of all sterilization activities.
- Establish and maintain sterilization, safety and security standards, policies and procedures for Sterile Processing Department to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
- May travel as needed.
