JOB DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Director, Strategy & Modelling, Corporate Finance, this role will work on diverse range of strategy execution, research and analysis, and coordination in support of the Chief Financial Officer. The successful candidate will also provide support in the modelling of merger and acquisition opportunities (M&A) and generate supporting documentation and returns analysis through collaboration with relevant functional/business technical experts, to support Go/No-Go decisions.
As a key member of the Corporate Finance team, the successful candidate will work closely with Corporate Development, Corporate Capital, Business Group M&A teams, and key Corporate/Business partners, as required. This includes the coordination and communication with various partners on financial and valuation aspects of M&A projects.
Responsibilities:
- Support and manage a variety of cross enterprise initiatives under the executive sponsorship of the Chief Financial Officer, including business analysis, internal & external research or analysis, process design and provide meaningful information in response to issues / questions raised
- Support the drafting, coordination and approval of (i) request for approval and (ii) business case review and approval
- Assist in creating financial models to evaluate company valuation and expected returns to Sun Life from M&A opportunities
- Lead drafting of accounting memos and related internal documentation resulting from M&A transaction structuring and related corporate activities
- Working with cross-functional teams on a variety of projects and initiatives
- Support the Director in the identification of issues and recommend solutions/mitigations
- Assist in the preparation of the Chief Financial Officer’s presentations to Board and other committees SLF including complex financial analysis (both recurring and ad-hoc)
- Provide execution support of various Finance initiatives
- Working closely with the Director and relevant internal/external groups, as necessary, to model acquisition structures and develop returns analysis to support Executive Team’s review of risk and return expectations from M&A opportunities
- Provide support to Corporate partners in understanding the M&A operating P&L and valuation models and coordination of deliverables and CFO presentations, as required
- Assistance in building and maintaining business/financial metrics models
- Assist in the development of company-wide M&A taxonomy and metrics, including on-going maintenance and improvements
