Description:

Allied is looking for a Manager, Sustainability and Building Performance to join our Asset & Environmental Sustainability Team.
This role reports to our Director, Asset & Environmental Sustainability. The ideal candidate is expected to have a technical background in mechanical engineering, control system engineering, energy management, and/or construction management.
This role will support our national portfolio in leading the development and implementation of energy and water retrofit initiatives. Working closely with our operations team, consultants, contractors and tenants from different cities, this role will be responsible for coordinating and delivering impactful energy and water conservation projects. This role will also support the development and integration of strategic ESG initiatives including but not limited to our Net Zero Carbon Plan and Physical Climate Resiliency Strategy. This role plays an integral part in the growth of our environmental performance programs and our ESG initiatives across the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the identification, evaluation and implementation of energy and carbon reduction initiatives; this includes the development of the business cases for energy and water conservation projects and managing the delivery of these initiatives from concepts through design and construction to commissioning
  • Manage consultants and contractors on energy studies and retrofit projects
  • Collaborate with Allied’s Technical Services Team, Construction and Development teams to identify synergetic opportunities between utility conservation initiatives, capital renewal projects and (re)-development projects.
  • Support the development and implementation of Allied’s Net Zero Carbon Plan
  • Support Allied’s Corporate Planning and Sustainability team with ESG reporting and all relevant public disclosure/communication.
  • Act as subject matter expert in the building energy and sustainability field; provide advice, guidance, educational and training sessions to our internal and external key stakeholders.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of our national utility management plans (energy, water, and waste); this includes business and strategic planning, annual energy budget creation, targets settings, executing energy audits, etc
  • Perform additional energy management duties as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
