About the OPPORTUNITY
We have a new opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Hunter Class Frigate Program based at SA-Osborne Naval Shipyard, reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, including a 9 day fortnight.
As the Manufacturing Engineer you will be responsible for assessing Manufacturability of designs, and for providing guidance to Production on build changes to effectively fabricate and install. You will also create build plans for structural fabrication of steel units and blocks; and hot and cold outfitting of compartments on-board of Hunter Class Frigates HCF.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional engineering technical and operational support that is accurate, safe, on-time and on-budget to support project and task activities
  • Identify key Risk and Opportunities within areas of responsibilities and mitigation plans
  • Work with stakeholders from Engineering and Production to influence the Hunter build strategy from planning through to implementation
  • Assess new requests for change to the build strategy and/or Engineering design to enable production
  • Support the manufacturing processes and framework through HCF build
  • Reconcile production results and strategy decisions to enable future improvements to the HCF build

About YOU

  • A Trade or Degree level qualification in an engineering discipline
  • Demonstrated experience within mechanical engineering, production engineering or field engineering environment related to metal fabrication, equipment installation and systems integration
  • Demonstrated practical knowledge of manufacturing processes in a commercial and/or defence environment
  • Good communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with engineers and production personnel within the project
  • Demonstrated good problem solving skills
