POSITION OVERVIEW

This opportunity is with Calian Composites located in the north industrial area of Saskatoon. Calian Composites focuses on providing composite solutions through design, analysis, and manufacturing.
Calian Composites develops its own high performance composite antennas, designs and manufactures boutique composite antennas for others, and provides general composite manufacturing services. To continue the endeavor into cutting edge manufacturing technologies, we are looking for individuals who share our passion for new and innovative ideas.
Calian is looking for a dynamic and passionate Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Manager of Composite Engineering, you will be an integral member of the team and will be responsible for supporting design and manufacturing of new and existing products.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or degree in manufacturing, mechanical, industrial engineering or demonstrated experience
  • Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience leading small teams is considered an asset
  • Experience with composite material manufacturing is an asset but not required
  • Experience in CAD, particularly Siemens NX is an asset
  • Experience with SAP is an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and train staff including indirect reports.
  • Initiate, oversee, and implement lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Develop and maintain work instructions for production
  • Evaluate the safety of new products on the shop floor
  • Design and construct jigs, fixtures, etc.
  • Support quoting, project planning, and project management on initiatives and projects
  • Support the development of new manufacturing methods or technologies
  • Define and implement workflows, and support the shop floor layout
  • Prepare and implement engineering change orders
  • Assist in management of the bill of materials and other documentation
