The Manufacturing Engineer (ME) is a critical member of Creation’s Customer Focused Team, responsible for bringing our customer’s new product designs into realization. The ME will ensure our products always meet customer requirements and specifications, with ‘cradle to grave’ ownership from prototype stage through to sustaining production. As the ME, you will define the assembly process, product flow, materials, methods, and tools necessary to bring new products to the company portfolio. Our customers will see you as an extension to their engineering team, as you propose DFx solutions and recommendations to improve efficiency, reduce cost and improve quality. In collaboration with the production team, you will work in collaboration to analyze and resolve a variety of technical issues related to supplier quality, SMT or backend mechanical assembly. The ME will ensure engineering changes are properly implemented and that configuration management is maintained through the product lifecycle. This position directly reports to the Engineering Leader.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years electronics manufacturing and/or development background
  • Experience with setup of parts, Bill of Materials and process flow in an MRP system.
  • Oracle and PLM (Windchill) experience is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills, technical writing abilities, analytical skills
  • Well versed with Microsoft Office applications

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Communicate design related requirements to new and existing customers
  • Able to suggest and implement efficient and effective tools, fixtures and automation to improve assembly process quality and yield
  • Able to analyze defect and process data to identify the root cause for failures and recommend process improvement and first pass test yield.
  • Proactively pursue better methods and/or new technologies to assist the customer in improving the product design and enabling Creation to produce a better product cost effectively
  • Must be able to work effectively within a highly team-based culture
  • Able to make independent decisions related to the job function

Responsibilities:

  • The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for leading new product launch activities. Manages and schedules new product launches. Coordinates tasks and resources for above schedule per NPI Launch Template. DFx analysis and reporting, manufacturing process development, anticipated failure mode analysis and development of Assembly Documents for new products.
  • Responsible for sustaining engineering activities, including but not limited to engineering changes, product cost reduction, interface with Test Engineering for test process development, specify and approve component alternates for Purchasing and managing the applicable areas of the MRP/business system for customer BOM/AVL control.
  • Create, control and distribute engineering change orders and maintain revision control
  • Review & analysis of documentation from customers such as assembly drawings, BOMs, ensure that all information be accepted and absorbed into internal documents. Research and implement processes for new production.
  • Assist manufacturing team with first time build and help to develop and define the manufacturing processes, Quality Plans and Work Instructions. Develop and control custom part procurement specs.
  • Managing and ensuring DFx (Design For Excellence) information is created and presented to the customer.
  • Sustaining engineering activities, including the support of production teams, root cause analysis of manufacturing non-conformances, driving of root cause corrective actions, etc.
  • Review PCB board design from customers to meet layout requirements of supplier and discuss about technical information with supplier.
  • Support customer focus teams to review manufacturing process procedures, methods and capabilities
  • Recommend and qualify new equipment and assembly methods to satisfy customer requirements.
  • Oversee design of assembly tools and fixtures.
  • Evaluate new customer products for manufacturability.
  • Ensure status and issues are communicated fully and in a timely manner to the CFT and Mgmt as appropriate.
  • Ownership to drive product Quality to address issues in a timely manner.
