Description:

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Employers typically prefer candidates with relevant degrees, such as Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees in engineering preferably Electronics & Electrical; Computer Science, Science, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering are acceptable.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications can enhance your qualifications. Examples include ASQ, QC/QA, PMP, EMC, and EMI.
  • Skills: Desired skills include knowledge of probability and statistics, board-level product qualification procedures, manufacturing processes, and familiarity with tools like Microsoft Office and pythons. Knowledge in designing test fixture and tools is added advantage.
  • Experience: At least 5+ years relevant experience, especially in manufacturing or operation environment and new product introduction, is valuable.

Responsibilities:

  • Alignment with Strategy: Drive alignment between the NPI strategy and internal stakeholders as well as external suppliers.
  • Product Development: Collaborate with R&D & manufacturing operation team in product development and validation throughout product life cycle. Provide engineering support throughout the product development process. Drive actively new product introduction project, including influencing the design of the product and/or process to ensure manufacturability and conformance with the global supply chain, enabling prototyping while in the R&D lab, testing the reliability of prototypes, scale-up, and managing the transition into production.
  • Project Management: Prepare project timelines, identify resource requirements, and evaluate financial aspects related to manufacturing processes. Monitor the status of all new products and ensure effective project execution following policies, procedures, and regulations. Managing product enhancements from design divisions.
  • Quality Assurance and Integration: Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure the production of high-quality products. Assist the New Product Introduction in integrating products across their lifecycle. Supports and implements the transition of products and manufacturing processes from prototype to full production and through the entire life cycle of the product.
  • Design Input, Testing and Validation: Actively participating in design reviews and providing input on electronic circuit designs and obsolescence redesigns. Develop product test plans and perform production tests based on manufacturing process instructions. Administer efficient first-release products for design and development (D&D) submission to regulatory bodies, supporting product safety and regulatory team. Works with R&D to design, develop and release new tools or process technologies and is a resource for risk assessments and design for manufacturability.
  • Process Improvement and Compliance, Lean Manufacturing: Ensure compliance with engineering change order (ECO) procedures and work instructions. Collaborate with design engineering to transition design prototypes into cost-efficient, manufacturable (DFx) high-volume products. Implementing Lean Manufacturing principles within the plant. Design jig/fixtures for new product, to ensure product manufacturability. Supports and implements the transition of products and manufacturing processes from prototype to full production and through the entire life cycle of the product. May redesign products to meet cost objectives, obsolescence, and customer requirements. Utilizes digital solutions to optimize and maintain state of the art manufacturing processes. Performs a variety of engineering duties to support manufacturing operations. Improves products, processes and applications to meet agreed-upon objectives.
  • Material Handling and Safety: Implement efficient material handling and flow strategies, integrate into current running product manufacturing. Ensure small-scale development activities will scale to manufacturing environment, test equipment and systems.
  • Reporting and Communication, Phase Reviews: Maintain knowledge of product status and prepare appropriate reports for senior management/executive review in product lifecycle. Ensuring compliance with New Product Introduction (NPI) Phase Review Guidelines.
  • Problem Resolution: When issues arise, escalate them to the appropriate groups and collaborate with cross-functional teams. May be required to use continuous improvement methodologies and understand quality regulations related to the life science industry. May be responsible for scripting software code used in manufacturing tests or to program an instrument used for production of a product.
  • Operational Decisions: Provide leadership, make operational decisions, and perform cost-benefit analysis in collaboration with key stakeholders. Plans, evaluates, and recommends technical, quality and cost specifications to meet design and business growth objectives and supply chain optimization.
  • Documentation: Developing documentation (such as work instructions, flow charts, procedures, and routings) to support production. Coordinates the revision of standard operating procedures (SOPs) as required to support the transfer. Develops and delivers reporting, analytics, and database solutions.
  • Yield/Cycle Time Issues: Playing a key role in resolving yield issues in collaboration with key stakeholders, NPI ramp to volume and continuously reduce cycle time.
  • Other tasks and responsibilities assigned by manager in support of business needs.
