General Purpose
You will serve as a project leader and technical resource, directly supporting multiple powder coating lines as a critical link in a vertically integrated metal fabrication and assembly environment. While mentoring other engineering colleagues and technical operations team members, you will also work to implement projects of varying scope, making a positive impact on key business metrics.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain daily communication with operations.
  • Makes decisions based on sound engineering and quality principles. Is competent and aware of engineering and quality standards
  • Identify, analyze, and solve manufacturing process issues and equipment-related problems to continuously improve key business metrics
  • Scope, order, and assure proper implementation of new processes & equipment.
  • Quote, develop processing standards, and assist in new product launches.
  • Provide technical support to technicians and work teams and serve as technical resource for the department.
  • Direct cross-functional process improvement projects with the assistance of operations, maintenance, and controls team members
  • Provide a critical link between the department and other process partners in areas such as product design, assembly, paint, maintenance, safety, quality, etc.
  • Implement cost-saving projects and special assignments as required.
  • Conducts scheduled product audits, records results, and drives action to resolve issues highlighted during the audits
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable facet of engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical)
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience in an engineering role (such as Manufacturing Engineer, Quality Engineer, Process Engineer, etc.)
  • Paint and/or powder coating experience preferred but not required.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong mechanical knowledge and mechanical problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of lean principles and the ability to apply them in order to establish and/or improve processes
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing)
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the specific ability to act as a team leader and interact at all layers within the organization
  • Excellent planning, project management, and leadership skills
  • Strong communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with a good understanding of plant operations
  • Solid decision-making and judgment skills
  • Resourcefulness in accomplishing objectives and completing tasks
