Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

Xtrac are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Plant 2 department which includes Build Shop, Inspection, Parts Finishing and Stores.
This role will provide manufacturing engineer duties within the function to deliver the production plan and the objective is to improve overall product quality throughout the factory.

You will be responsible for:

  • Taking our NPI products from prototype assembly to takted line production process; creating SOPs, specifying equipment and developing layouts.
  • Driving development of existing products, processes and their SOPs in close collaboration with Quality & Engineering functions.
  • Relentlessly driving continuous improvement in assembly using Lean methodology
  • Development & implementation of assembly best practice; leveraging the expertise of assembly technicians and technological advancements to drive best in class production performance.
  • Standardising and improving assembly processes including rework, rebuild, equipment use & maintenance.
  • Leading and supporting problem solve activities to identify and resolve root causes.
  • Supporting relevant Production Part Approval Process requirements for assembly (PFMEA, DFMEA, DFx)

You will ensure manufacturing processes can achieve the required production rate, cost and quality in a safe manner.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL BE:

  • Ideally experienced in an Assembly Manufacturing environment.
  • Well versed in production of work instructions and process standardisation.
  • Educated to City and Guilds/NVQ L3 in manufacturing/mechanical engineering
  • Confident in your communication both internally and externally
  • Organised with a structured approach to problem solving, and being a bastion for best practice and process adherence.

You will also have:

  • 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment in your specific discipline
  • Ideally experienced in development of SOPs using Siemens RapidAuthor
  • Good working knowledge of quality systems
  • An understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Numerical skills and an understanding of statistics
  • Excellent IT skills including Word and Excel
