- Technical communication skills both verbal and written
- Must be well organized, goal oriented and able to give attention to detail
- Able to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across the organization
- Experience using SolidWorks, Composer and AutoCAD an asset, but not require
Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a 16 month co-op term with a role as a Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering (ME) person focused on supporting process improvements of MX Product and New Projects Integration (NPI). Working under general direction and guidance and collaborating with contacts in OE team to explain and interpret information. Contributes to systems and processes changes and works to achieve operational targets that impact team results. Work consists of contribution to changes in processes to solve problems. Responsible for making minor changes in processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of approaches being utilized. Expected to recommend solutions to problems for others review. Works to achieve operational targets within job area which has impact on the overall achievement of results for the team. Work is typically on smaller, less complex projects or task-related activities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Working in a cross-functional team with engineering, production, manufacturing engineering and procurement, this person is responsible for strategically identifying and tactically implementing improvements of WESCAM product, in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. This role is responsible for ensuring WESCAM’s product is serviceable and has robust processes through its lifecycle.
- Lead and participate in assigned projects related to Mechanical Manufacturing activities within Operations Engineering.
- Implement MAP and parts list changes
- Work in partnership with the Mechanical Frontline ME team as required resolving operational technical issues and the development of new systems processes.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining Manufacturing Assembly Procedures (MAPs)
- Support Production activities and issues on a daily basis
- Assist in the development of manufacturing processes and procedures for Production
- Capture and analyze data related to estimating accuracy and cycle times related to shop floor throughput.
- Support documentation changes, including service procedures, Work Instructions and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) authoring.
- Reviewing change requests generated by engineering and mechanical staff, and implement changes as required.
- Responsible for the timely completion of tasks assigned by the Manufacturing Engineering Department
- Create and update mechanical assembly drawings
- Support any other business priorities as required by Operations Engineering leadership.
