About the Job:
We are looking for an industrial or manufacturing engineer who is passionate about upholding the manufacturing process to ensure that we are optimized for maximum productivity, quality, and efficiency. In this role, you are the master of organizing and simplifying complex processes to make them leaner and more efficient.

Your primary responsibilities will be:

  • Create and review manufacturing processes and work instructions, updating contents and performing training to roll out changes.
  • Specify and procure equipment to support Production, working with third parties as required to coordinate implementation.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement initiatives and uphold 5S activities.
  • Specify, design, build/outsource, and improve production jigs, test fixtures, and material handling carts.
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate new equipment or processes.
  • Perform root cause analysis and 8-D problem solving, and implement corrective actions to address quality concerns.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing BOMs in the ERP system
  • Participate in the change management process to implement changes to existing products.
  • Support the transition of new products from R&D to Production by participating in design reviews and build reviews.
  • Additional tasks may include:
  • Mentoring and assisting with the supervision of junior members of the team
  • Supporting the implementation of established processes such as our ESD Control Program, annual tooling calibration, and preventive maintenance.
  • Assembly of tooling prototypes and hands-on testing of new production processes.
  • Performing risk assessments and participating in health & safety investigations.
  • Plan and coordinate facility layout and material flow improvements

    About You:
You are the person on the production floor who sees an assembly process and thinks ‘with this simple tool, we could do this better’. By the time you make it to your desk, you’ve already got a concept sketched out. You can easily envision assembly steps in your head, know when these will cause issues in a production environment and are confident enough to take these recommendations to the R&D team. Safety is your middle name. You may not enjoy working in Excel spreadsheets for lengthy periods of time, but you do revel in the outcome of an extremely accurate, well-organized worksheet.

    Required Skills:

  • Solid understanding of electromechanical prototyping and assembly

  • MS Office
  • Practical understanding of PCBA quality standards and common defects
  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • BOM management in an ERP environment
  • SolidWorks Experience in the mechanical design of basic fixtures and tooling
  • Experience With Jira, ERP, PLM systems
  • Basic cost benefit analysis
  • Experience with Electrical and Mechanical Systems
  • Team player

    Bonus points for:

  • Hobbies that involve working with power tools, hand tools, or DIY automation- ex. Woodworking, home automation, Arduino projects, car repairs.

  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • Involvement in TPM or preventative maintenance programs
  • Experience working with ESD-sensitive products
  • Participation in a JHSC committee and/or knowledge of industrial health & safety regulations
  • Able to interpret electrical schematics
  • DFMEA/PFMEA project experience
  • Familiarity with bash, Python, or other scripting languages
  • An EIT pursuing a P.Eng designation or holder of a P.Eng
