Headquartered in Stoney Creek, the plants have design, mold, paint, assembly and testing capabilities. Tiercon manages 5 sites across 2 cities employing approximately 550 people throughout Canada. Tiercon is seeking knowledgeable, self-directed, experienced and hardworking individuals interested in the automotive industry in Advanced Manufacturing Process & Automation Engineering out of our Stoney Creek facilities.
Job Summary & Reporting Structure:
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for working closely together with Production, Engineering and Quality personnel to develop and execute productivity other continuous improvement projects and the launch of new programs at the Assembly Facility. At all times, ensuring the ongoing adherence to the policies and procedures outlined in the ISO9001:2015 AND IATF 16949 Quality System and encouraging continuous improvement wherever possible.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning and implementation support for new programs and/or revised programs in accordance with documented timing plans utilizing Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methodologies
  • Perform Time Studies: Stop-watch, Predetermined Motion Time System (PMTS) - Methods Time Management (MTM), and/or Maynard’s Operation Sequence Technique (MOST), Work Sampling, and Production Study
  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, layout improvements, material and work flow improvements, error proofing, VE/VA, new technologies, and equipment layout
  • Maintaining the orderly filing of engineering documents, operator work instructions, change notices and project history
  • Performing additional continuous improvement activities such as (labour and material cost reduction proposals and design improvements, etc.)
  • Problem solving and implementation of irreversible corrective actions.
  • Provide support for all assembly line trials for customer for pilot builds, engineering changes, etc.
  • Perform and support training of operators on new or revised processes as required
  • Coordinating with Production, Engineering and Quality Assurance, to ensure that all necessary material, work areas and operator instructions are all in place prior to production and updated throughout the life of the program
  • Promote continuous improvement in all areas
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in EngineeringLean Manufacturing/6 Sigma Program an assetMinimum 3 years experience in an automotive Tier 1 or Tier 2 manufacturing environmentMinimum 3 years experience class A automotive components and assemblies-preferably plastic injection molded and/or painted components.Demonstrated strong communication, MS office applications and organizational skillsDemonstrated experience with core lean manufacturing tools and concepts including Just in Time, 5S, Kanban, TPM & TQM, Standardized work, Elimination of wasteDemonstrated experience with cell layouts, visual aids, PFMEA, CAD (Autocad or Solidworks), researching manufacturing methods and equipment, managing equipment vendorsDemonstrated experience with time studies (PMTS, MTM, MOST), work sampling and production studiesHands on experience with PLC, MES (Ujigami) an asset
