POSITION SUMMARY:
In this position, you will mainly involve production of raw serums and other cell culture media supplements sold under our market leading Gibco brand. These products serve a variety of customers and are used in the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals, diagnostics and in the biotech industry. You need be active and, on your feet, and although some of our processes can be repetitive in nature, your days will be varied with the wide range of different tasks and activities you will perform. Adherence to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), safe work practices and a strong understanding of cGMP/ISO principles (current Good Manufacturing Practices) will be key strengths that you can rely on to be successful in this role. Be a key member of our BPU (Bio Processing Unit) manufacturing team and will feel comfortable both working together with your colleagues or completing tasks on your own with limited supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Academic qualifications –Minimum NCEA Level Two, or Sixth Form Certificate, Tertiary qualification, preferably in science is a bonus. This is not critical as training will be provided.
- Experience working in a production manufacturing environment or laboratory environment would be an advantage but is not crucial as we will train and provide the opportunity to gain the required skills. We also offer further online training within the business.

Responsibilities:
- To be trained in several serum processes, taking full responsibility of the task when confident, working alone or working with the team to ensure all manufacturing tasks are completed.
- Record manufacturing processes accurately and in real time in batch manufacturing records and following SOP standards.
- Ensure production plant hygiene and housekeeping is always maintained.
- To take full responsibility for the production of products as delegated by the Production Team Leaders and Supervisor(s).
- To actively participate in the implementation and compliance of SOPs.
- To carry out duties as requested and required in the manufacture of any Company product.
- The Manufacturing Technician is responsible for the performance of the activities associated with the cell culture product manufacturing process.
- Update SOP’s, batch sheets and Hazard ID’s as required.
- Abide by EHS policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy workplace environment for all.
- Communicate production issues to Production Supervisor and/or Team Leader as they arise.
