Description:
The Manufacturing Quality Engineer will be a key contributor to the quality organization and heavily influence the overall quality of the ZincFive family of products. The person in this role will mentor a staff of technicians on technical tasks. The position will report to the Quality Manager and will work onsite at ZincFive headquarters in Tualatin, Oregon.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years’ experience in a Manufacturing Quality Engineer role
- Experience with quality inspection and testing of electro-mechanical products
- Ability to read and understand schematics and PCB layout and mechanical drawings
- Experience supervising non-exempt technician staff
- Ability to troubleshoot analog and digital circuits and system level testing
- Knowledge of manufacturing quality tools, concepts, and methodologies, such as 8D, RCCA, CAPA, SCAR, CAR, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
- Ability to develop and execute both manual and automated product tests which could include both visual and audio inspection
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and databases
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast, changing, and small startup company environment
- Ability to travel in the U.S. and internationally, 10-20%, depending on business need
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Relevant certifications such as a Quality Auditor, Quality Engineer, Lean Six Sigma
- Experience supervising manufacturing technician staff
- Product or industry-specific experience such as battery backup or uninterruptible power supplies
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements such as UL, IEEE, ISO 9000/9001
- Knowledge of/experience using SAP or other CRM/ERP applications
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work involves sitting, walking, and lifting up to 35 pounds
- Domestic and international travel by car, airplane, bus & train
- Requires close visual acuity, the ability to distinguish color, and the ability to hear within warehouse and office environments

Responsibilities:
- Develop and document manufacturing processes for current and future products
- Develop, implement, and monitor quality initiatives for manufacturing
- Participate in FMEA for both product and process
- Create Quality Control Plans for production lines
- Develop and implement appropriate systems to measure product quality, department efficiency and productivity
- Develop, report, and take action to improve metrics related to quality (i.e., cost of poor quality, customer complaints, product non-conformances, etc.).
- Lead structured problem-solving activities (e.g., 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa) to resolve functional test failures, customer issues or audit findings, in a timely manner that prevents reoccurrence
- Troubleshoot and analyze product failures and drive corrective/preventive actions
- Perform and document internal audits
- Advocate for and promote lean manufacturing principles
- Supervise and mentor quality technicians
- Own equipment calibration coordination
