Description:

ChampionX has an immediate need for a Manufacturing Safety Specialist at Alberta Oil Tool located in Edmonton, AB, Canada. This is your opportunity to join a growing company offering a competitive base salary and benefits.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Good oral and written communication skills, including strong presentation skills
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Good knowledge of Alberta OH&S Legislation
  • Ability to travel between facility locations when required
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University or college diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related fields is an asset
  • Three or more years experience in the manufacturing safety industry is an asset
  • Intermediate (Standard) First Aid or Advanced First Aid Certification
  • Experience in manufacturing industry and working environment considered an asset
  • Strong work ethic, the ability to be flexible, and the ability to work independently or as a team are an asset
  • Experience with Manufacturing Health & Safety Association (MHSA) and CORE program and audits is an asset
  • Experience with Injury Claims Management is an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate environmental, health and safety activities that are required by OH&S, Manufacturer’s’ Health and Safety Association (MHSA), EPA, DOT and provincial regulations.
  • Coordinate programs and workplace improvements to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and regulatory risk.
  • Provide and coordinate environmental, health and safety training as required by OH&S and company policies and regulations.
  • Participate in the investigation of accidents and injuries, perform analysis of industrial accident causes and hazards, and participate in the implementation of controls to eliminate or minimize potential risks or injuries.
  • Inspect organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, recommend corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Perform hazard assessments and risk analysis of processes and equipment to ensure legislative compliance and effective controls are implemented.
  • Provide effective injury case management and assist with the administration of the workers’ compensation program, including working with the employee and insurance carrier to reduce employee lost time.
  • Implement and support the company’s workplace drug and alcohol program.
  • Track environmental, health and safety performance; maintain safety files and records; and evaluate key performance indicators to drive functional and business performance improvements.
  • Drive, support and contribute to the company’s continuous improvement program and culture.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all matters.
  • Represent the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.
  • Other duties as required.
