WHAT WE DO:
The Manufacturing Technology Manager is responsible for developing short and long-term manufacturing solutions to airframe and non-airframe applications. The role is heavily involved in the building of prototype and flight test aircraft as well as incubating technology that will be transitioned to the operations/production team in the long run. The Manufacturing Technology Manager contemplates design for manufacturing from the beginning and ensures a smooth transition into production with the operations team. The role collaborates closely with all technical development teams, including Systems Integration, Interiors/Cabin, Materials & Process, Structural Design and Structural Analysis.
This position will be required to work on-site 5 days a week.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership in developing and maturing of Manufacturing Technologies and Digital Manufacturing Systems
- Create standard processes and procedures within the discipline while interfacing with other stakeholders throughout the conceptual, preliminary, and detail design
- Develop an effective team and its culture
- Ensure proper alignment between Manufacturing Technology Portfolio and product roadmap
- Establish execution planning of technology demonstrator vehicles
- Develop digital manufacturing workflow and test through technology demonstrator vehicles
- Develop effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders and suppliers
- Write SOWs, participate in design trades and reviews, and prepare presentations for various internal and external customers
- Develop design for manufacturing decision workflow based on vehicle performance and cost targets
- Prepare and author various manuals / templates such as design standard and best practices, procedures and processes, specifications, and requirements.
- Lead in troubleshooting manufacturing and assembly issues
- Collaborate with Project Managers to develop a detailed project plan and work breakdown structure (WBS) including required engineering hours, milestones, budgets, and key resources,
- Support identifying new suppliers, maintain relationships with key suppliers, and provide technical support to suppliers
- Requires up to 10% of domestic and international travel
- Other duties as assigned
