ABOUT US

The Department of Public Works supports Nova Scotia’s 23,000 kilometers of roads and highways and 4,100 bridges. We are an engaged and supportive workplace ensuring safety of our public service; ensuring all return home healthy and safe.
The Marine Services division of Public Works maintains and operates seven provincial ferries: Englishtown, Little Narrows, Country Harbor, LaHave River, Tancook Island, and Digby Neck. Our Ferry staff help further connect and expand Nova Scotia’s transportation network while ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our Provincial Ferries. Our ferries operate 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. If you want an exciting and challenging career with a daily view of our beautiful Atlantic waters, then we have the perfect opportunity just for you.

You will operate the main engines of the Theodore O’Hara Ferry; ensuring that all auxiliaries, pumps, ventilating fans, steering motors and furnaces are functioning in a safe and efficient manner.

You will direct traffic on the Ferry; arranging vehicles on the deck and ensuring that the boat is clean at all times.
