Description:

SKILLS

  • A degree in Naval Architecture or equivalent from a tertiary organization recognized by Lloyd’s Register from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship’s Engineer officer
  • Preferably over 3 years of relevant industry experience in a local or multinational organization
  • Membership of an appropriate professional institution (I. Eng or equivalent)
  • Ability to work in accordance to professional codes of conduct and the LR Code of Ethics
  • Certified English proficiency and fluency according to the job requirements and familiar with maritime terminology in English
  • Ability to use a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to apply existing and emerging technology
  • Ability to apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, manufacture, construct, commission, operate and maintain engineering products, processes, systems and services
  • Understanding of technical and commercial management principles, e.g. project management, process management

Responsibilities:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct ship surveys and provide advice for service delivery within own area of experience, adhering to budget constraints and contractual requirements
  • Produce the deliverable within the agreed parameters in a defined format to time, budget and to quality
  • Develop reports, certificates, and documents to an agreed format and within agreed timescales
  • Discuss and present the deliverable with the internal / external client and be able to suggest solutions where appropriate
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards
  • Interpret national and international rules and regulations applicable for marine assets
  • Understand and apply the basic principles of risk management
  • Pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge, and awareness
  • Assess or recommend the time and value of the work to be undertaken for an external client, assisting in identifying the most appropriate fee and cost structure
  • Give guidance to other employees, as appropriate, and disseminate information to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application
  • Assist in service delivery improvement by communicating internal / external client feedback as appropriate
  • Contribute to external client management; ensuring service delivery is continually improved through monitoring and acting on client feedback appropriately
  • Ensure the appropriate authorizations are gained and are kept up to date. This may involve Activity Monitoring
  • Undertake routine administration as required in line with current processes and procedures
  • Comply with contracts’ standards signed, maintain the level of an effective and competitive service and ensure that all workload, processes and procedures are effective and efficient and meet business/commercial requirements for both internal and external clients
  • Provide good control of projects, including communicating with clients, financial control and timely and accurate reporting
  • Conduct relevant activities as agreed in personal training plan with the aim of increasing knowledge and competency in the execution of survey and other related work
  • Collaborate with office surveyors, Line management and our key clients as shipyards and manufacturers

KEY HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Always assess the risks and work in a safe manner, robustly implementing health and safety rules, instructions and systems and refuse to undertake work that compromises your safety or health
  • Report in a timely manner all incidents including near miss and safety observations (NMSO), accidents and injuries and raise any health and safety concerns with your line manager
