The Risk & Quantitative Analysis (RQA) group provides independent oversight of BlackRock’s fiduciary and enterprise risks. Key Responsibilities:

You will join a team of risk managers focused on global capital markets to provide market risk management of BlackRock’s global trading and securities lending activity. You will partner with trading, investment, technology and within RQA to:

  • Provide unbiased risk oversight of trading and securities lending risks.
  • Consult with trading teams in the continued development of risk measurement frameworks employed to assess and monitor trading risks at both the platform and asset class level.
  • Deliver impactful quantitative analysis to assess how trading and lending strategies impact client portfolios.
  • Conduct statistical analysis of large datasets to identify meaningful trends and emerging themes in trading and lending activity.
  • Partner with portfolio-manager aligned investment risk teams to improve visibility into trading and lending risks relevant to their area.
  • Assist with RQA’s second-line oversight of BlackRock’s Best Execution framework.
  • Guide team members in the development of their skills and approach to effective risk management.
  • Contribute to our inclusive, ‘One BlackRock’ culture by actively promoting Diversity, Inclusion and Equity within the firm.

Qualifications:

  • A Masters or PhD in a quantitative field, e.g. quantitative finance, computer science, economics, statistics, engineering preferred.
  • Advanced python skills and strong understanding of relational databases.
  • Exceptional quantitative skills with experience in developing and using financial risk models.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to quickly establish collaborative partnerships and proven ability to explain theoretical topics to a wide range of audiences.
  • Deep understanding of financial markets across liquid asset classes and familiarity with counterparty risk.
  • Highly organized and able to effectively manage their time to adhere to deadlines.
  • Demonstrates highest ethical standards.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks including MiFID II.
