Job Summary
Urban Grid is seeking an experienced marketing and communications professional to steward the brand through an exciting phase of company growth. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this person will be instrumental in shaping the company’s image and message as we deliver power to the world’s biggest consumers of renewable energy. The ideal candidate has a strong background in branding and content development with the ability to write and design in-house (with freelance/agency support) and excellent speaking and project management skills.
Experience in the renewable energy sector is required and solid knowledge of utility-scale solar and storage is an enormous plus.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Sustainability, or related field
  • 3 - 5 yrs experience
  • Excellent communicator with an ability to engage at all levels within the organization.
  • Content development experience; copywriting, photo editing, graphic design, PPT development.
  • Presentations, in-house graphic needs, social media content, website content, SharePoint updates
  • Experience with media outreach and corporate communications strategy.
  • Draft and deliver press announcements, act as company spokesperson as needed, draft remarks for the executive team as needed, engage with industry organizations, coordinate crisis communications.
  • Proficient with WordPress, Canva, SharePoint, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office Suite
  • Team-oriented, approachable and enthusiastic leader.

Responsibilities:

Corporate Marketing

  • Brand stewardship – Manage use of the Urban Grid brand to ensure its consistent and appropriate use bolsters the company image and reputation.
  • Identity templates - Ensure all templates (PPT, Word, business cards, letterhead), logos and photos are up-to-date and accessible to the entire team via SharePoint.
  • Manage website and coordinate with IT and external web host.
  • Manage social media presence.

External Corporate Communications

  • News and announcements - draft and send press releases in coordination with the senior team.
  • Crisis communications - coordinate with Operations lead.
  • Executive talking points – support leadership team in prep for public speaking opportunities.

Internal Communications

  • Support internal teams with projects and initiatives as needed to foster our company culture of transparency and information sharing such as; the ongoing Lunch & Learn series, Internship Program, Quarterly All Hands meetings, Annual Summit and periodic additional all-team engagement activities.

Location: Houston, TX preferred location but remote work is acceptable for this role.
