Thales provides world-leading Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) and interlocking for mass rail transit applications globally. The Centre of Competence for Urban Rail Signalling is located right before you at mid-town Toronto. As the largest office in Canada, we house a department for every step of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)! This includes Software, Hardware, Systems Design, Verification & Validation, Operations, etc. The supporting corporate shared services teams in Finance, Human Resources and IT is also located at the office. We are currently looking for a Marketing & Communications Intern/Co-op to join the Urban Rail Signalling Business in the Toronto Office.
Term Start: May, 2024 start
Duration: 8 or 12 months

In order to qualify for this intern or co-op role, you must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated from an accredited university or college
  • Studying communications, marketing, public relations, business, graphic communications management, media or another related field
  • Able to work Full Time for the specified term lengths
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and produce visual content (videos, podcast etc) with proficient abilities in tools like Canva, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Premier Pro and Illustrator
  • Creation of marketing materials and content, including signage, digital guides, infographics, technical illustrations and graphics
  • Drafting and design/layout of articles and other content for the internal Intranet and newsletters
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure assets are compliant with the corporate brand guidelines
  • Undertake additional relevant responsibilities as required to support various design projects
  • Help organize and plan internal events and provide day of support
  • Plan and draft content for social media campaigns
  • Assist with marketing activities, as needed, i.e. Market Analysis, PowerPoint Decks, drafting marketing materials, etc.

Key Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated from an accredited university or college
  • Must be able to attend in-office for marketing team meetings and events.
  • Studying communications, marketing, public relations, business, or another related field
  • Able to work Full Time for the specified term lengths
  • OPTIONAL: please attach a marketing portfolio (if any) to your application

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is a strong asset
  • Social media proficiency will be considered an asset
  • Related experience will be considered an asset
  • Basic graphic design / layout skills will be considered an asset
