Description:

Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) invites applications for a full-time Marketing Specialist to join our Center for Professional Education team. Under the direction of the Executive Director of Professional Education and in collaboration with and support from the campus Marketing Communications Department, the Marketing Specialist within the Center for Professional Education (CPE) plays a key role in raising the brand awareness of the Center, generating enrollments, and communicating to numerous internal and external audiences. The Marketing Specialist works with Center staff and other internal and external contacts in the development and execution of the CPE comprehensive marketing plan to engage primary audiences, promote the full array of programs, events, and services offered through the Center, generate leads, and increase program enrollments. In this role, the Marketing Specialist coordinates all advertising, promotions, publications, websites, social media, and email and direct mail campaigns. The Marketing Specialist is expected to be a creative individual with excellent organizational skills, problem-solving capabilities, and proficient in multitasking. The Marketing Specialist also provides regular reporting to the Executive Director and the VP-Marketing & Community Engagement to ensure alignment with CPE and university marketing efforts which includes a monthly meeting with VP and Executive Director of CPE.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develops, implements, monitors, regularly updates, and provides reporting related to the performance of components of the CPE comprehensive strategic marketing plan.
  • Works in close partnership with Marketing Communications team to maintain a cohesive brand while supporting the unique needs of the CPE and its key audiences including print, web, digital signage, and other emerging platforms.
  • Regularly reports key metrics and results of marketing campaigns to Executive Director of CPE and Marketing Communications team to monitor and optimize future campaign performance.
  • Meets regularly (monthly) with the Executive Director of the CPE and the VP-Marketing & Community Engagement to provide updates on activities to ensure alignment with the CPE and university marketing efforts and balance between the CPE needs and MSOE brand.
  • Creates and implements an annual email communication timeline. Executes email marketing campaigns and events to accomplish established goals or outcomes. Collects and analyzes data on the effectiveness of CPE marketing campaigns to inform strategy.
  • Establishes, manages, and maintains CPE social media accounts.
  • Maintains the CPE website with support from CPE Program Staff and other campus units.
  • Maintains records of all marketing and communications activities.
  • Ensures published information is relevant, compelling, accurate and consistent.
  • Writes, proofreads, and edits copy for the Center website, promotional advertising campaigns, and other sources.
  • Follows established institutional and Center identity and branding guidelines and ensure that communications meet institutional brand standards and are consistent in tone and style.
  • Works with University creative staff and consultants/freelancers, as needed, for specialized program supports such as photography, videography, graphic design, copy writing and editing.
  • Represents the University and Center at business expos, corporate fairs, and other events to increase awareness of Center activities and programming.
  • Stays up to date with marketing trends and best practices in the industry.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development, maintenance, and optimization of a segmented CPE participant database.
  • Provides back-up support to functions associated with the Center’s registration management software system.
  • Assists in identifying positive publicity opportunities through diverse and available channels.
  • Assists with market research, competitive analysis, and preparing reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field.
  • 2-3 years of professional marketing experience is required; experience in marketing educational programs and/or services through a university or similar setting is preferred.
  • Experience managing paid social content, building email campaigns, direct mail, display advertising, and other platforms.
  • Project management experience.
  • Prior work experience with marketing databases.
