Job Description
The primary focus of the master Schedule Builder is to support management in the development and maintenance of optimal master schedules to best meet operations within budget requirements, available resources and schedule restraints. The Master Schedule Builder must have strong knowledge and understanding of collective agreement scheduling rules along with the ability to create schedules within those rules in a health care environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Creates and edits master schedule rotations in accordance with operational requirements in various departments
  • Full knowledge and understanding of collective agreement scheduling language and requirements and budgetary limitations
  • Assist managers with the implementation process of new/changed master schedules ensuring compliance with the collective agreements
  • Ensures accurately calculated FTE values and budget constraints are met within each schedule line
  • Liaises with labour relations and staffing services manager to ensure master schedules are compliant and accepted by all parties involved
  • Submits new/changed master schedules for review to managers and relevant unions
  • Collaborates and communicates with managers, Human Resources and unions
  • Creates and maintains filing system for implemented schedules that have been signed off/approved
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College certificate/diploma in a business-related field required
  • Three years recent experience creating master schedules in a unionized environment
  • Two years experience with automated scheduling systems is required
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required
  • Strong understanding of collective agreements and scheduling rules in a health care environment
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Must be able to work well under pressure and effectively manage firm deadlines
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and English comprehension)
  • The ability to educate and advise managers of various schedule options
  • Strong customer service and conflict management skills
  • Demonstrated sound organizational skills with ability to problem solve and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment
  • Highly motivated and self-directed with demonstrated ability to work well as a member of a team

  • Excellent attendance, punctuality and work record
  • May be required to travel to and work at all Osler sites
    Additional Information
    Hours: Currently Days/Evenings, 8 hour shifts including weekends and statutory holidays
    (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)
