Regulatory Compliance and Strategy Development

  • Regulatory Compliance: The Global Material Compliance Manager is tasked with ensuring strict adherence to all applicable environmental, safety, and legal standards, as well as internal policies concerning the material composition of products and their production processes. This includes staying compliant with all relevant regulations across different jurisdictions.
  • Strategy and Risk Management: Develop and enforce proactive strategies for risk mitigation and continual improvement in material compliance at every stage of the product lifecycle. This involves crafting policies that preempt compliance issues and optimize the material use in manufacturing to meet both current and future regulations.

Collaboration and Global Monitoring

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: This role requires close collaboration with multiple departments including Research and Development, Production, Quality Assurance, and Procurement to ensure that material compliance is integrated and maintained from the development phase through to the final product. This ensures a seamless compliance process that is embedded in every department’s operations.
  • Global Standards Monitoring: Constantly monitor and analyze changes in legal regulations and industry standards worldwide, especially in target markets. Assess how these changes impact company products and processes, and adapt compliance strategies accordingly to maintain regulatory alignment.

Team Leadership and Capacity Building

  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop the Material Compliance team across various production sites, enhancing their capabilities to manage complex regulatory environments. This includes mentoring a team of specialists in material regulations and standards, fostering their professional growth and operational excellence.
  • Training and Development: Implement comprehensive training programs to elevate company-wide awareness of material compliance requirements and best practices. This ensures all personnel are well-informed, skilled, and compliant with the latest standards and processes.

Operational Excellence and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Process Definition and Documentation: Establish and maintain robust processes and frameworks for systematic compliance documentation and reporting. This responsibility includes maintaining accurate records and reports that are critical for audits and reviews.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Actively develop and sustain strong relationships with external partners, suppliers, and regulatory authorities in the material compliance sector. This role involves negotiating with stakeholders and aligning their expectations and practices with the company’s compliance strategies.

Requirements

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in material compliance, with a proven track record of handling complex compliance issues.
  • Knowledge: Extensive understanding of national and international material compliance regulations and standards, such as Conflict Minerals, REACH, RoHS, TSCA, and California Proposition 65.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability in leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Skills: Excellent analytical abilities, superior interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively interacting with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Cultural Competency: Ability to operate within a global, multicultural environment.
