Job Description
As a Material Planner, you will coordinate and expedite the flow of materials according to production and delivery schedules. You will have experience of configuring a system and agreeing the rules of engagement with your suppliers to achieve your inventory and service level objectives. You will be liaising with the Planning, Production, Quality and Procurement teams, the role holder will ensure that customer priorities are met and to establish product availability dates. The material planner should be familiar with best practice is supply chain planning and be able to challenge the status quo to drive continuous improvement.
Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a system driven material plan to support production and sales order demands

• Working closely with vendors to ensure on-time delivery of materials. Pro-actively working with vendors to resolve any potential delay in material shipment. • Build strong relationships with vendors

  • Supporting supply chain strategy by using identifying and implementing optimal replenishment technique depending on characteristics of material and supplier
  • Optimise inventory levels by evaluating cost of inventory vs supply risk and logistics cost
  • Mitigates shortages, excess on order and excess on hand.
  • To identify and implement process improvement opportunities and cost saving initiatives
  • To identify and quantify, both in monetary and supply risk terms, opportunities for localization
  • Supporting business improvement programmes such as Continuous Improvement, Kaizen, Lean etc
  • Work with Global Supply Chain Management to implement standardized practices for purchasing, planning and factory materials management that ensure effective use of inventory and logistics resources.
  • Defines and continuously improves the materials supply processes from all (3rd party and intercompany) vendors to the factory lines in a manner that eliminates non-value added activity and that supports a high efficiency production operation.
  • Develops and guides the implementation of flexibility and supply assurance plans.
  • Coordinate sourcing strategies with Supply Management and Customers.
  • Develop and implement cost take-down strategies.
  • Other duties as required.
