The purpose of the Tesla Materials Engineering organization is to facilitate the Tesla mission of accelerating the world to sustainable transportation via the identification, development, and insertion of advanced materials and processes while supporting other Tesla Engineering and Manufacturing functions with materials expertise. The Materials Engineering team in Berlin is looking for an intern for different projects linked to metals. Starting from different topics connected to the qualification process, through the development of different test procedures up to the identifying or even development of new materials for certain applications – there are a lot of diverse projects the intern could demonstrate the actual skill set and learn from a global group for life. This internship is worth a lot!
You, as an intern, don’t have to make the coffee here, it comes out of the machine (for free) and copiers are as rare as phone booths on the street, what you will find here is a lot of experience and fun. You are here on an equal footing with all employees.

What You’ll Do

  • Get to know the qualification process and help to do it smarter, profoundly
  • Get to know the different test methods we are applying during qualification, and help out in developing, and implementing new methods for unambiguous material characterization
  • You can bring your experience in with new materials for our applications and help out with identifying the right application
  • We are supporting our design team with the right materials, if we don’t find the right materials on the market, we are designing those tailored to our needs, you are more than welcome to be a part of this process

What You’ll Bring

  • Good knowledge of English, both written and spoken
  • Currently studying or recent graduate within Materials Science, Engineering, or a comparable program with a focus on materials science. Or the equivalent in experience
  • Personality with a goal-oriented approach
  • Ideally you are analytical, and structured but also a little chaotic
  • Experienced in materials characterization
  • Previous internships in another automotive and/or aerospace industry, as well as voluntary activities such as Formula Student, are desirable
  • Affinity for programming or simulation is very welcome
