JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a dynamic Drama Teacher Assistant with choreography experience to cover maternity leave for the current Drama Teacher Assistant. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in assisting with teaching responsibilities, administrative tasks, and choreographing for the upcoming production of Annie (June 2024).

  • Collaborate with the Head of Drama/Director to assist in bringing the production of Annie to life, supporting the overall vision and message of the piece.
  • Assist in teaching classes under the guidance of the Head of Drama.
  • Coordinate with the Head of Drama/Director, and Musical Director to ensure integration of movement elements in the final performance.
  • Take responsibility of choreography and dance sequences within the production.
  • Assign dance captains and recruit a pupil Assistant Choreographer.
  • Facilitate the development of students’ skills and knowledge during the rehearsal process.
  • Attend rehearsals to ensure alignment with the Director’s artistic intentions and design concepts.
  • Maintain open communication with the Director, Musical Director, Parents, and Administrator to address any concerns and prevent potential issues or clashes.
  • Participate in relevant production meetings to contribute ideas and provide updates on progress.
  • Seek authorization from the Head of Drama for any budget requests.
  • Assist in the preparation and organisation of props, costumes, and other necessary materials for rehearsals and performances.
  • Provide feedback and constructive criticism to students to enhance their performances and improve overall production quality.
  • Support students in mastering choreography and dance techniques, offering additional practice sessions or one-to-one coaching as needed.
  • Collaborate with the technical team to ensure smooth transitions and coordination between lighting, sound, and choreographed sequences during performances.
  • Act as a mentor and role model for students, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages creativity, teamwork, and self-expression.

This is a temporary position requiring commitment and flexibility during the specified dates. The Drama Teacher Assistant & Choreographer will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of the production and the development of our students’ talents.
