Mathematics Learning Communities Project Director (Education Consultant I)
Hourly Rate: $30.79 - $36.25
SCOPE OF WORK: Administers all aspects of the Math Learning Communities Program with responsibility for cultivating and sustaining partnerships with high schools and affiliates and providing technical support, training, and consulting services ; and implementing activities for high school students and high school and college mathematics teachers. This position reports to the Director of College Access Programs at CCSNH.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Oversees implementation of the scope of work and assurance of compliance with terms and conditions of the Mathematics Learning Communities (MLC).
  • Leads the MLC Project Leadership Team comprised of high school teachers and CCSNH faculty, designed to guide the work for the Math Learning Communities including the selection of courses and ongoing assessment and evaluation of courses. Coordinates all aspects of Team’s activities including planning, arranging and facilitating meetings, and managing follow-up tasks.
  • Manages related budgets and contracts including approving and monitoring project expenditures.
  • Recruits, cultivates, and supports MLC Partner High Schools and recruit new high school partners.
  • Provides onsite support and technical assistance to high school and community college faculty and staff as needed to develop and conduct pre and post tests and assessment activities.
  • Coordinates the development and delivery of professional development activities, workshops, and outreach for high school teachers and administrators.
  • Develops, directs, and coordinates development, publication, and dissemination of project related materials, handbooks, and public awareness information.
  • Prepares project reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis as required by funders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master’s degree from a recognized college or university with major study in education, math, science or a related field. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: Five (5) years’ professional experience in educational administration, teaching mathematics or science or academic advising at the secondary or postsecondary level, with responsibilities in program research, planning, monitoring, and evaluation.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of research and issues related to college readiness in mathematics and the transition from high school to college. Familiarity with Mathematics Learning Communities strategies and approaches preferred. Experience planning or providing professional development to high school or college faculty. Some knowledge of research methods and techniques for computerized placement testing preferred. Strong computer skills. Ability to manage details and logistics related to workshops, placement testing, and contracts.
License/Certification: Valid drivers’ license or access to statewide transportation.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Considerable knowledge of principles, practices, and current developments in math. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to write technical information. Ability to evaluate and analyze program effectiveness and resource utilization. Ability to create new program concepts. Ability to speak before public groups. Ability to supervise others. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with federal, state and other public officials. Must be willing to maintain an appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by CCSNH.
