Description:

This is an exciting role leading the Outpatient Services covering Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells sites. This role will provide leadership for the Antenatal Clinics on both sites, ANNB screening services, Perinatal Mental Health team, Triage and MDU. Reporting to and working in partnership with the Head of Midwifery, through strong clinical leadership the Matron will support the Ward and Departmental Leads to promote excellence in midwifery care to maintain and improve clinical standards.
The post holder will ensure that all women and birthing people are treated with compassion, dignity and respect placing value on the diversity of the local community and beyond.
They will promote best practice in the delivery of personalised care and the prevention of infection through ensuring a clean and safe environment. The Matron’s key responsibility is to ensure that the patient, parent or carer experience is of the highest quality inspiring patient and public confidence. This will be achieved through high visibility, accessibility and monitoring.
The Maternity Directorate is led by the Clinical Director, the General Manager and the Head of Midwifery. The Matron will provide cross cover to colleagues as and when appropriate.
To be responsible and accountable for a strong professional, clinical leadership for the Outpatient Services
Ensure safe standards of midwifery care is delivered to the highest quality and in line with the national agenda.
Safely manage services on a day to day basis, escalating concerns and risk assessing as appropriate, this includes participating in an on call system
Support systems for measuring and improving the quality of the patient experience within the Directorate ensuring that women, birthing people partners and visitors are treated with dignity and respect.
Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the county of Kent.

Tunbridge Wells Hospital opened in 2011 and provides single rooms with en-suites for all in-patients – the first of its kind in the country.

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trust’s 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email mtw-tr.professionalstandards@nhs.net if this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
